I don’t know what train you’re catching but you need to let us Brits know how you did it. Train prices here in the U.K. are ridiculously high. I just checked a return trip from my house to Edinburgh this morning…. It’s £255 or around $300. You might get $65 if you book months in advance and you’re flexible as hell on timings, but it’s not standard pricing.

It’s one of the reasons why most of the people in the U.K. support some aspect of nationalising the train lines. Market forces dont drive the price down, because you can only have one provider per train line. Flights to Europe are cheap tho…

As an example. A friend of mine flew to Warsaw and back for £30 but still spent £60 getting to Luton airport (about 40 miles outside London) to take that flight in the first place.
