I don't know why poor David Boreanz is so forgettable, but he really is. Hehehehe. This is a much more interesting argument and I'd expect nothing less from SC.
What you've done here is given Marti Noxon a hard pass. You've given her the benefit of the doubt. You've ignored the fact that she was capable of holding Whedon accountable and you've explained why she didn't. And do you know what.... you're probably right. That isn't the point I'm making. I can't prove one way or another what Marti Noxon did or didn't know. Maybe every single cast member came to her with evidence and she told them all to piss off because she liked Joss. Maybe she was directing the other scenes and didn't know. The point is... I don't know and neither do you.
When people don't know something, it is morally dubious to draw a collection of disparate behaviours out of context and infer complicity. I don't think it's a good thing to do at all, It is even worse to do that to only men involved and overlook all the women involved. What began as an article about Joss Whedon quickly descended into heavy inference based on what people haven't said. Doing this creates a 'guilt in absentia' approach. If you're not one of us, you're one of 'them' and 'we're coming for you'.
Writing about problematic behaviour in one woman (Amber Heard) and then inferring that any woman who hasn't outright condemned her actions is complicit in domestic abuse is the parallel. If you then infer that Aquaman Co-stars Nicole Kidman and Julie Andrews are problematic actresses to work with by citing their out of context behaviour (Read about early Julie Andrews in Hollywood), and use that as evidence of their complicity in not protecting Johnny Depp.... that would be misogyny, and it would be unacceptable.
It would seem that we have very different views of the OP's work. We joined Medium at the same sort of time. Over the last few years I have watched the OP's work descend from balanced insightful pieces about life as a writer, into misandrist pieces largely aimed at her ex-husband. Those have slowly developed into the generally popular pursuit of kicking men whenever it is expedient. It's a profitable niche on Medium, garners a lot of views and gets lot of clicks - but that doesn't make it morally right.
Always good to debate and love it when you pop up! Hold me accountable. Everyone should be holding everyone accountable for the things they put in the public sphere.
