I don't put a valid measure on 'diversity' because I don't understand what it means. Individuals are naturally diverse from each other on any given metric. You can get diversity via mandate based on any factor you like. Everyone in your office is 6" and over, do you need a short person? Everybody wants diversity, nobody really knows what that means.
What people really want from diversity is a lack of creative homogeny. Blending people who have different styles of thought and different life experiences will do that - but let's not pretend putting a whole bunch of middle class affluent people together with different levels of melanin is diverse. It isn't.
Those indirect pressures can be addressed but I'm not sure how society intends to do that over and above mandating things that reduce fairness and dealing with the backlash. We don't, as an example, think that increasing the number of white actors in Bollywood is a great idea for diversity. Why not? Arguably it is.
Educational attainment is problematic measure of the success of anything - for the reasons I identified here. The gradual introduction of general education has led to a devaluation of achievement. One of the key problems fuelling a lack of diversity is attempting to get everyone of every skin colour into University rather than promoting university for the brightest and running different kinds of tests for employment in other sectors of society. :o)
