I don't really subscribe to the notion of different zones and this way of viewing guy friends or girl friends. I think humanness works best when you simply treat each individual relationship with its own set of norms. I have friends I date, I have friends I'll have sex with, I have very good friends who know nothing about my sex life at all. Each relationship is based on reciprocity and understanding and they're always subject to change. Everyone is in the friend zone even the Significant Other Penguin, they are just the friend I spend most time with, the friend I want to spend most time with and the friend with whom sex remains closest to the traditional notion of making love. Penguins be flexible that way and there's no shortage of platonic or non-platonic friends. Not sure why the rest of the universe seems to think sex is the be all and end all goal of every relationship. It should be mutual fun and enjoying the rich tapestry of life, with or without sex. :o)
