I don't remember Harry's comprehensive apology for the 500 years of Empire building and wars his family have generally undertaken. All I remember is the performative activism and self-pity he exhibits.

The monarchy is racist and not in the slightest bit progressive. I've outlined why in this article. https://medium.com/lucid-nightmare/the-most-racist-institution-of-all-f6d91949c638

The gay/muslim debate is where polemic thinking falls apart and where knee jerk performance progressives don't quite make it through to the next round. Do you support BLM? YES! Do you think they should say what they believe? YES! Do you think they were right to take the 'Free Palestine' position. YES! Do you realise that was largely considered to be anti-semitic? UMMM?! No... I'd like to ummm, I'd like to reconsider my approach to complex political systems of justice.

And the ad-hominem attack was unnecssary, I have reasoned and well thought through complex views on the intersection of race and politics. If I choose to question the received wisdom of performative activism, it's because I've considered it carefully. I believe that this sort of middle-class pontification by BIPOC authors has a net-negative effect on race relations. It's too simplistic and binary, it plays into the hands of the existing social structure and I've got less and less time for it the longer it goes on. We owe it to BIPOC to be better than incentivised puff pieces fuelled by lazy identity politics.

You can find my reasoning here. https://medium.com/lucid-nightmare/what-we-all-lose-when-society-plays-identity-politics-397dcb896d5b
