I don't think African governments are useless - I think there's a lot of restorative rebalancing which needs to occur as a result of the mess left by the British, Italians and others involved in the scramble for Africa. That's different from a socialist one-hit-wonder doing something to alleviate an immediate famine and raise the issue of starvation in the collective Euro-American consciousness - even if it had unintended long-term consequences for 'white saviourism'. A song aimed at creating a universal understanding of the Treaty of Wuchale wouldn't likely have made the charts. ;o)
