I don’t think it necessarily does, a hierarchy should arrange itself by competence - what Elle is saying is that dominance is the model by which it emerges, but I don’t think that’s true in all cases… and I struggle to understand how the patriarchy as Elle conceives it would generate laws or morph into a series of liberal democracies…. They aren’t perfect, but within this system you get these oddities like the Titanic, where this dominance hierarchy demonstrates it’s willingness to work for the least dominant (at that point in history it would’ve been female children).
