I don't think it's malice aforethought promoting leftism - rather that it's left-leaning by makeup and should therefore do it's best to consider how to address this in whatever way it can. There's certainly scope for some introspection about things like adding pronouns and using 'staff picks'.

I think they'd be better off banning the staff from picking things and instead employ their best readers from across the political spectrum to create a diverse set of picks with a token amount of money. I think they're in danger of sleepwalking themselves into a lefty-love in, they've done it before in 2020-2021 when they employed professional journalists in their in-house productions and basically became the opposite of Fox news.

This iteration is better and I don't think algorithms are the answer, I think humans are the answer and I think there has to be some thinking about the thinking patterns of those humans. Groupthink is never good, particularly not in a company as small as Medium. :o)
