I don’t think the court case is pro anyone…. They can be, but I don’t think this particular one is. I would suggest that Depp is a more easily handled client than Heard, particularly to redirect - but I think the judge has been very fair and even handed.
Evidentially speaking, I would suggest that Depp has brought stronger witnesses. Not stronger in expertise, but stronger in having their expertise cross examined. In terms of legal strategy, Heard was on the stronger ground - but the path either she (or her team) have selected has left her open to lose. It may have been a costly miscalculation.
I think you can be respectful to both sides. It’s childish to presume that every situation has a ‘goodie’ and a ‘baddie’. Life rarely works that way. On the balance of probabilities (and listening to all the evidence) - I find her problematic, and some of her allegations to likely be either false or hyperbolic - but not liable for defamation in this instance. I would send both parties away paying their own legal fees. That doesn’t mean she’s innocent, doesn’t mean he’s innocent or vice versa- it means the state shouldn’t really be involved in high profile mud-slinging around the semantics of the word ‘abuse’.
