I don't think there's any malevolent bias at play, I think Medium attracts a certain type of person and those people generally sway left. I sway left. This means there are more 'liberals' writing on the platform than Conservatives - and many of those liberals are no longer what I'd define as liberal.... thus the quotation marks. Medium should adjust how it rewards writing which falls into 'echo chamber' writing - and it is starting to do exactly that I think. I'm seeing far less poorly constructed rants at X-type of person and more philosophy, nuance and interesting articles. There was a time when you couldn't move on this platform for fear of falling over a demagogue - that is gradually being reduced.

I agree that you are likely to find answers in left-wing solutions, primarily socialism... but the left wing itself is fracturing and economic lefties like me are moving towards the centre ground and being considered right-wing for not agreeing to how the left is currently framing the argument. Again... broad brush strokes. I think Liberals and Conservatives work best in opposition - they need each other. Liberals are far too quick to throw away checks and balances, whilst Conservatives are slow to let go of traditions and 'the way it has always been'. I think (as a general rule) societal subsequent generations move leftwards and more open to change - but that social media has thrown a spanner into the works. Rather than a pluralistic society which focuses on the strength of disagreement, there is far more acrimonious silo-thinking. For which both the political left and the political right are responsible.

Sometimes outside it's drizzling - plus outside is a big place and it depends on which window you're at when you make the observation. We have to make sure we're all looking out of the same window before we call the weather - and that's proving more and more difficult with every passing day.
