I have a Psych degree, and I can assure you - even if you don't do 'anything' with it. You'll have it as an excellent grounding for any other career. It underpins everything I've done in my career - and I think it's a great subject to study. All of my stuff is no doubt out of date by now - but the Soc/Dev stuff is pretty standard. I can and do train social workers on it.

The UK needs more social workers, and it definitely needs more trans-social workers. There's a specialism there that will be a) tough and b) worthwhile. Becoming an MP is an arduous process and I'd recommend going and doing something else first. Get a few years on the front line of something else and you'll be ready to go into politics with a decent chunk of knowledge.

And Yes, Conservatives are infuriating. Jamie Wallis has come out since you wrote this - so there's at least one Trans MP in the commons.... typical they'd be a bloody Tory though. Honestly, the left wing in the country is a shambles. Despite trying to be progressive, they've never managed to elect a party leader who hasn't been straight white and male. Meanwhile the Tory party has two female Prime Ministers and a cabinet full of minorities. It's infuriating.

I hope you do well at your chosen career, whatever it may be - and keep writing here in the meantime. :o)
