I have also got a passionate dislike for the word - because it has come be shorthand for a lack of thought - and yes, according to the old understanding of what it means to be 'woke' - I would consider myself to be so.... however, any pushback on any assertion by any idiot regardless of skin-colour is now considered to be the epitome of oppression.
The 'woke' now represent a group of people for whom the image of being 'not an -ist' is the most important indicator of their social position. This leaves them open to demagoguery and manipulation by idealogues. I firmly believe faux-liberalism is bad for minority groups, it's tyranny by a minority stake and will fundamentally lead to division and backlash for those groups. The most 'woke' are those protected from the backlash by virtue of their class, geographical position and in many cases their skin colour.
In short, faux-liberalism (authoritarian woke) is a bunch of millennial and Gen-Z kids who are angry at the mental insecurities which stem from being coddled and have found a methodology to take the upper hand in society. It's a retrograde step and it does a disservice to the original meaning of the word 'woke'.
It was appropriated from Black people, misused, broken and now can't be put back in the box. Lashings of middle class idiot sauce for everyone. :o)
