I have decided not to get married because I believe it’s a systemic way of oppressing women. I feel very strongly that it has been used to normalise both rape and violence and to limit life choices for women.

I think in the fullness of time, most humans will reach a place where they agree with me. Not many people agree with me at the moment. My view is not popular, but shared by my significant other penguin. So, should we judge people today by what I think is obvious but you might disagree with?

Will future generations see you as a bigoted jerk because they’ve outgrown the concept of religious based ownership of other humans? Or do you want to cut people some slack?

I don’t think there’s too much of a problem judging people by the standards of their day. You and I both experience westernised lives off the back off cheap Labour elsewhere in the world. We both eat food, drive cars, take planes and use plastic… when we KNOW these things are wrong. Why do we do it? Because we are a product of our time and subject to the influence of others and limitations on our economic, social and psychological happiness.

I appreciate you may not be married or drive - but I’ve taken my best guess you might be. And if you’re not, most people are married and do drive.
