I have found most people to be a mixture of nice and nasty - people pleasers tend to have an ingrained pattern from childhood that has been bizarrely subverted by teenage hormones. The resultant mess is the 'nice guy' - but as you've pointed out, it's a facade and an unhelpful one. That said, there are also women who when faced with a choice between an out-and-out dickhead and a moderate man will always pick the former, that's usually an ingrained pattern from childhood bizarrely subverted by teenage hormones.

Some men cannot break their facade-pattern and some women could pick the single asshole in a room full of saints and go home with him. Humans be like that. Luckily for us in the middle, these people tend to find each other and set up little triangles of unrequited bullshit that keep writers doing teen-flicks very much employed.

And, whilst I'm here - I do feel the need to stand up for Jordan Peterson. Not for his political positioning, but certainly for his 12 Rules for Life. I read it, I enjoyed it, it contains some good advice, much of it resonates with young men looking for guidance in a world that is very angry with previous generations of young men. I can leave the pseudo-Christian nonsense aside along with much of his political posturing, but I think he's likely saved more than one young life by providing a decent roadmap away from psychological nihilism. That is to be applauded and people should weigh this up against their disagreement with his political standpoints.

He ain't Tate. Tate is a thundercunt.
