I have long railed against bemoaning 'the patriarchy' at every turn, because it fails to account for many of the things it has thrown up that have been of benefit to all society - particularly here in the liberal west. The patriarchy, western style at least, has thrown up representative democracy into which rights based arguments were added. For all its shortcomings, there has been a gradual softening of the rules of society. We are not where our grandparents were and society is better for it. That's often termed as a fight against the patriarchal norms, whereas I see it as a part of a liberal social contract.

But there's been a generation of extremes. Andrew Tate is one, and Katie Jgln isn't - but there are a few of her regular readers who would happily put a bullet in the head of any man anywhere in the world if they could. There may be very good and valid reasons for thinking like that, I'm not privy to why people hate other demographics - but equally there might be very valid reasons why Andrew Tate hates women. What I think we need to do is stop ceding the microphone to the batshit fringes and bring it back to the collaborators.

And yes, well adjusted young men usually have well adjusted older men to guide them. Those older men can be straight, gay, bisexual, whatever - ideally within the family, but not always. What matters is the male connection - and that's starting to go missing. Young men are being socially disconnected from older men under the banner of 'toxicity' and instead getting their messages from younger women.... that's a dangerous swap to make and society will soon find out why.
