I have read god knows how many vitriolic articles on Medium about specific individuals and groups. You either have a rule and you enforce it universally or you don't. I don't really have a problem with people writing obnoxious bullshit and that's because it's fairly obviously obnoxious bullshit and you can stop reading it any time you like.

I don't think there's any real benefit in suspending people, random tirades just don't get read because they aren't that good. Unless of course they're random tirades that are in line with the received wisdom of the prevailing social structure. Then they get clapped and the person becomes a 'truth teller' - that's how Jessica Valenti managed to get employed by Medium for a year to basically write 'I hate Trump and rich white men' over and over and over and over and over.... even if it is against Medium terms and conditions.

Miscalculation on Medium's part.... should've just let that piece wither on the vine - or everything is going to get a little bit 1960s Stasi in here.
