I have spoken to him about it at some length and I think it was motivated by a single issue - but he's also got some very valid points (which I agreed with) about the way the EU is run and the governance. He's a traditional Tory, decentralise everything and give more freedom to individual nations.

However, where you're probably correct is that he did exactly what I did - which is to decide first (emotionally) and then go off and look for information to support his cause. That was how that vote played out in the general public, with very few pieces of information flowing across the cerebral gulf

I knew we were in trouble when I left London and returned to the South West. :o/
