I imagine things will get better over time as this situation becomes more prevalent and normalised across society. As you'll see from the comments section in this article, the centre ground is a difficult place to hold. Some of my readers flat out refuse to accept the idea of a man having a baby (though I have no real issue with it on a conceptual basis), whilst some of my trans-readers take the position any and all misgendering is indicative of transphobia and should be called out and prosecuted at the highest possible level.
I think the word 'balance' is a good one, because ultimately that's what we need across a whole swathe of the debates going on at the moment. It's why I hold the centre ground and I'm fairly vocal about it... not just because it's what I think (though it is) but also because if there's someone in the centre ground, there's at least some chance the two extreme positions may converge at a piece like this. Both sides may not agree with everything I've written (and a quick glance through the comments section will show that) - but the two groups aren't going to a) give up their strongly held views and b) read each other.
So centre ground it is. For me, for you, and hopefully for a compassionate and liberal society still finding it's feet. Thanks for dropping by. :o)
