I loved this article and it's interesting to read about the process of disengagement with BLM and your own reservations about things. I think society places far too much emphasis on listening to the loudest people in the room and runaway groupthink combined with pluralistic ignorance is leading race relations and indeed the LGBTQ+ community down an ideological rabbit hole.

I think a much better way of struturing society is to teach everyone to do rational thinking and maintain a strive towards an individual position that retains nuance and sticks broadly to the arguments that matter without delving into much of the hyperbole which doesn't.

On the LGBTQ+ issue, I'm going to leave you a link to my encounter with an LGBTQ+ ally which demonstrates what I'm talking about. Individuals who reason tend towards moderate positions and are often liberal. Groups tend towards the extremes because of the Dunning Kruger effect and the competitive nature of human beings.
