I read that piece today - it's very interesting, though I thought it smacked a little of virtue signalling, it was very well written and quite compelling. I think I disliked it for the same reason that you probably enjoyed it - thus is the nature of confirmation bias in reading work on Medium.

If you haven't discovered him yet, then I'd recommend reading Steve QJ. He and I broadly agree on most things and I think he offers a different perspective that you might find interesting.
