I read the entire back and forth between yourself and Lisa, very instructive. I think you're debating at cross-purposes. What you are arguing is for the freedom of children to question the President, what she seems to be arguing for is the shaping of such speech into something approximating 'good' conduct. There's a confusion here about excluding children from politics - they can't be, politics underpins everything, and whether we want children to use simplistic chants they can't contextualise or understand.
As a liberal I sit with you - I don't think you should punish children for voicing a political view no matter how extreme. However, if they are unable to provide any substance to their political view then that should be cause for concern. Young people are easily radicalised to either the left or the right and we have to do better at ensuring their views are challenged. We need a greater emphasis on debate and critical thinking. If you cannot justify why Joe Biden should be fucked, you shouldn't be encouraged to shout it.
Social media is bringing children into politics at an alarming rate - and something needs to be done to mitigate against their groupthink at both ends of the political spectrum. That isn't punishment, but it needs to be urgently addressed. Great article. :o)
