I think if you asked 1000 a woman to go on Oprah to stand up if they had been raped, around 10 women would stand up according to conventional measure. That's your 1 in a 100. I personally think that's an underestimation because of under-reporting.
250 stand up if they have been sexually abused - or 1 in 4. I think that's probably about right. I think it might push up another 10% to maybe 330 women who stand up.
But lets have a look at what you're saying in real terms. You're saying that 3 times as many as that number would say they've been raped. There are 168 million women in the US, you think 126 million of them have been raped. 10.5 million rapes a month or 350,000 rapes per day in the average year in the USA. 14,583 rapes are happening every hour - or 243 women are raped every minute?
Are you sure your intuitive figures based on confirmation bias may not be inflated?
