I think I'm rather more bullish on technology than you are - part of the fun of being a dystopian writer is thinking up the future alternatives. I can see the rise of 'external wombs' being a thing within a few hundred years. As babies become healthier and bigger to carry to term I can see it getting more dangerous for females to give birth, I'd argue it's the logical extension of the caesarian section and I'm sure there are enough super wealthy people who want a baby but don't want to birth said baby to make this a reality. Maybe I'll write a play about it. :o)
