I think in the US, there's plenty of purple. There are extremes of red and blue, but lots of people are purple on a lot of issues. What the US political landscape seems to lack is a cohesive moderate party of purples. Independents might offer that, but you need to have renegade blues and reds standing up to the extremes of their own sides.
