I think it's a delicate balancing act between representing the interests of the entire British public and representing the interests of a subsection of the British public which ties in with your ideological or personal biases.

I'd say, for example, the Windrush scandal is a legitimate issue for MPs to speak up about and raise for their constituents. Particularly those constituents who would be disproportionately affected by the issue - the same is true when talking about the plight of refugees. Members of parliament can and do bring their own life experiences to the table.

However, her tendency towards BLM Marxism, occasional calls for slavery reparations and making gaffes about Trans issues and gay giraffes haven't worked in her favour. She can be a loose cannon. Sometimes that's great, the left needs that from time to time. A Dennis Skinner or two keeps everyone on their toes - but sometimes it'll cost them votes at the ballot box.

I like her tendency to defy convention but I don't agree that hers will be the best strategy for continued growth and consolidation of the political left.
