I think it's a little unfair to block someone then call them out. If you're going to call people out on bad behaviour then they really should have the right to respond. At least that's what I think Medium is for. I will only hide comments if they're downright offensive to someone other than me - but even then only as a last resort.

If someone does get blocked (and there are currently two people on that list) then they won't get called out afterwards because they've ceased to exist - on behalf of argumentative people everywhere, I think it's unfair to shut someone up electronically and then continue to argue your own side.

Also, it is generally my experience that if someone utterly batshit does show up in your comments.... then other readers will hold them accountable so you don't have to. :o)
