I think it’s interesting, I’m not supporting Putin’s actions, but that’s not the point. Anyone who reads me regularly would know I’m not necessarily contrarian, but I do like my own research.

Let us presume that there are intelligent people from Russia on the internet. If they are being met with a wall of ‘there are no Nazis in Ukraine’ then they are being lied to. You and I both know this - and so we must give the average reader more credit than you’re giving them.

The situation is desperate there, Ukrainian’s are being deployed with one overarching strategy - that level of analysis is good enough (for the time being) but doesn’t tell the whole story.

Pretending things are far simpler than they are so you don’t get taken out of context and used as propaganda isn’t really my worry. People running propaganda machines have far stronger arguments than ‘also, this bird has some mild critique of the political complexity’ - but it does mean you’re getting a balanced and centre ground perspective.

I don’t think any of my regular readers are going to be joining the Russian army anytime soon - and I’m always dubious of a binary… ‘if you’re not with us, you’re against us’ position.
