I think moderate conservatives are done with being referred to as the 'Far Right' and that's why Conservative hackles are raised when articles like this come into play. The moderate left do a great job of suggesting everyone to the right of them must be a Nazi and it's exhausting. It's exhausting for me - and I'm to the (economic) left of most of them.
I have a bit more time for Biden than you do (surprise surprise) but I think his biggest mistake was not lining up a decent centrist VP who could take over at this point. He bowed down to the progressive end of his party, which seemed like a good idea at the time - but Kamala Harris has turned into an information void - I haven't seen her since she was elected and I have no idea what she's doing. Admittedly, I'm British so not being bombarded with all the US stuff, but that wasn't the case with Biden (when he was VP) or even with Pence. I knew what they were up and what they were doing most of the time. Harris is just a non-entity.
Biden should've been handing off to a moderate at this point - and instead he's stuck in place as the lingering cream-tart on the buffet table of democracy because of internal rifts in the Democratic Party. Long story short, probably should've taken Amy Klobuchar as VP and kept progressive politics for the supreme court nominations and glitzy stuff.
