I think one of the unexpected benefits/drawbacks of the digital world is how it has become a cemetery and occasional shrine. There are places I can visit where memories of people I've loved and lost comes alive - but I also have the digitised photographs of family members pop up from time to time. Connection with the dead is important to me - and, being one of the most historically curious member of my family, I am the curator of the family genealogy - occasionally researching where distant long-dead relatives lived during key historical events and what it must've been like for them. The blur between life and death is interesting, both psychologically and socially - and I'm interested to see how the next generation will change it. :o)
