I think that's a fairly good way to view a binary choice between two highly dubious ideologies. Annoyingly I'm what would be termed a bleeding-heart libertarian. That means I want some socialism for the people who need it (and so generally vote left when given a choice) but I absolutely want the state to stay out of everything it possibly can and not interfere in civic life in any meaningful way.

My inner socialist and my inner libertarian are frequently at war with each other on an issue by issue basis. But that's the fun of political and philosophical decision making.

Thanks for your comments and glad you enjoyed my generally uncomfortable approach in writing my articles. :o)
