I think that's where Marcus and Teed (other commenters) think this entire discussion should be based. There's a constitutional protection under 'freedom of religion' and that's the argument which should be made in law - and I think you're articulating the same thing. People can interpret the science the way they want to alongside their own feelings and conscience.
