I think the best defence against cancellation is not to engage in it. Those who issue apologies will never please anyone, there is no amount of contrition that will ever satisfy people who's motives are your destruction. I'm not saying you should laugh off malevolent detractors who want to bring you down - but you certainly shouldn't play into their air time.

My safe space of one also involves being a Penguin. Although my identity is painfully easy to work out, I'd suggest the average digital mob is plain lazy. I would advise all writers on Medium to pick a nom de plumage. It means I can't sell any courses, do any podcasts or promote any of the plays I've written - but that's the choice you make for being a Medium villain like me ;o)
