I think there are conversations going on, but the ability to converse has been lost by some people. BIPOC writers that come to this page would do well to read the comments of the white people here to get an overview of how white people are feeling about the whole thing. The standard response will likely be 'Why should we care how white people feel?' and this speaks volumes. How are you going to make changes by alienating white moderates? Given the voting demographics and how democracies function.

You aren't the first person I've seen slowly disengaging from the their activism of previous years. I think the voices of such people are going to be very important going forward and you have an important job to do. There are two routes out of being woke.... you either double down and continue to socially expel everyone who disagrees with you, you can do this until your social circle is so small it ceases to function and you become unbearable to be around - at which point you find other radicals online and the process begins again. This is what left-ists have been doing for years. The other option is to take a step back and be objective. Is this really achieving what we want it to achieve? What sort of world are we building? At what cost?

It sounds like you're doing the latter and this means you're likely to be able to speak to other people who want to carry on the fight for equity, but who have lost faith in the methodology thus far. It's lovely to see you back in the comments :o)
