I think there's some complexity at play here though - you've listed traits that are particular to male mental health... stoicism, self-reliance and resilience etc, but what is the mechanism that creates this? Humans are sexually dimorphic (but not by much) and so I'm struggling to understand whether this is based in psychological differences and genetics - or whether this is social conditioning? Why are these things central to male identity - and has that always been the case, or scaffolded via memetic behaviour?

I'm not a big fan of the Scooby-Doo tendency of feminism to take off the mask of things they don't like and shout 'the patriarchy did it' - but I can't discount it entirely because there seem to be complicated mechanisms at play.

Great article, very enjoyable. I'm sure SC will get here soon and take you to task on this one. ;o)
