I think this leans towards hyperbole, the sort of opposite of 'what next? If you allow abortion, they're going to execute your toddlers and elderly' when done by the right. Whilst there might be some ideological extremists in the heavily religious right, I don't think they're in control here - and this could spectacularly backfire for Republicans.

I think, somewhat controversially, that Roe v. Wade does need to be overturned, but probably not now, and probably not like this. Other laws are better constitutionally protected and enacting the 'full dystopia' might be harder than overturning Roe. I don't think there can be 'Total Politics'. The religious right have been planning this for 50 years, in part because the way Roe was brought in left a huge gap for challenge and began the Supreme Court Arms race, finally culminating in RBG failure to step down and the Pence/Trump stacking.
