I think you missed the part of my life story when I was an advocate for looked after children, including unaccompanied asylum seekers (UASCs). I have done my decade on the front line and left after some pretty horrific burnout.
Now though, I’m part of a community group bringing twenty Ukrainian women and children into our local area. In fact I spent some of today moving furniture for a neighbour so the council inspection (necessary for the safety of vulnerable refugees) could go ahead on Tuesday.
British people may be flippant about politics and I am a particularly good example of such flippancy in action, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t committed to human rights and equality. We may not be as vocal about it as some people would like, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.
