I think you're overwhelmingly right on this one - there has been a complacency in the middle and upper class liberal bit of the US. For what it's worth, i think Roe was a terrible piece of law https://medium.com/lucid-nightmare/alito-is-right-roe-v-wade-does-need-to-be-overturned-108a8e36c61 but I don't think it should've been overturned. Having said that, the Democrats failed over 50 years to codify that shit and lock it down - and the religious right have been openly angling to bring it down since 1973.
The problem here is that there are groups of people who don't ideologically align. There are plenty of women who disagree with the original Roe ruling and whilst it suits the ire of white liberal women to slam Clarence Thomas, they're overlooking the elephant in the room (Amy Coney-Barrett). Women are not a monolith and have different views on this, there is a presumption that everyone favours the liberal white west coast, NYC view - and that isn't the case by a long shot.
There's a follow up article to the one about the legality of Roe. https://medium.com/lucid-nightmare/the-supreme-court-set-fire-to-abortion-rights-what-now-84abc9c7a7ad
I think you'll hate both articles- but then you've got a fun turn of phrase when you disagree with my work and I appreciate that. Nothing better than a sassy take down.
As an aside, what sort of dance do you teach? I was a dance student (way back in the day) and was also a drama teacher and am a playwright for the theatre, tell me about your influences. We studied a fair bit of Martha Graham and I lot of Matthew Bourne, but I always found the American scene a lot more interesting, Ailey in particular and those connected with him. Upfront, I can say I do only have chat-show knowledge about the subject, but if you've got any online lectures etc then please point me in that direction. :o)
