I think you’re right — and the world is far from perfect. It’s very difficult for anyone to know what anyone else’s intentions might be. The complexities of the modern world are being simplified into a story of ‘goodies’ and ‘baddies’ and it’s absolutely infuriating on all levels. Human beings are complicated and the way they inter-relate is exponentially more complicated. There’s buckets of nuance across this whole subject and we aren’t seeing any of it.

I don’t think mingling bars and non-mingling bars is the solution — because as you’ve astutely pointed out, people never follow the rules anyway. We shall continue to muddle through. However, mingling bars and non-mingling bars is at least a solution to the problem. Much better than screaming “Society is broken” over and over again until everyone has applauded.
