I try and reply to most comments, because I think the world can only be made better by having conversations with people - and most people are, by their nature, interesting people once you get past the first comment and that's certainly the case with you.

I think your ideas are pretty much bang on for a liberal socialist. People should be rewarded in line with their effort, but there's no point letting individuals or companies make huge amounts of money. Money is only useful when it's flowing from place to place and ideally doing some good.

26 years is a long time to do anything so kudos for sticking with freelancing and being a P/A - but it sounds like you'd be doing the world a favour if you go out and volunteer. Everyone should volunteer at some stage in their life, it brings only good things to the community and to the self.

I think there can be subjective truths and objective truths. I try and stick to the stats in my articles, but I say what I think because I think it. Jeannette does the same thing and we're two people who passionately disagree on the best way to end racism. I think she's wrong on a lot of things, but she's honest about why she thinks the things she does, and she writes passionately and without cynicism about human truth. I often find her content very moving, doesn't mean I have to agree with the conclusions, but sometimes it's about the journey.

I don't think racial harmony can be easily achieved. Human beings are psychologically predisposed to in-group out-group thinking with knee jerk reactions to the out group. Skin colour is one of the easiest ways to identify and label an out group and it takes a significant amount of cognitive stress to undo those thought processes. I think it's worth the effort, but I don't think it'll happen in our time. I think, perhaps more dangeorusly - that the current technology (social media) is encouraging people not to listen to each other and this could end very badly.

I'm a total luddite, so i'm not entirely sure what Substack is, but if Steve is on there, it must be excellent. He's got some pretty strong views on CRT from what I remember. He's an excellent writer and thinker and the world would do well to listen to him.

Don't put yourself down, now I've got my head around your zippy and zig-zaggy style of thinking, then your comments become easier to read, digest and respond to. It's not slush, you just write exactly as you think. :o)
