I worked in child protection in the UK for a decade.... y'know, instead of heading into banking. So I think I'm aware of the social security in the UK... I was the social security in the UK. I left eventually, after having a bit of a breakdown because nobody should work in child protection for any longer than about five years. I didn't say I was the victim, I said it has informed my approach to life - and yes, the safety social net arrived in about 1860, Octavia Hill, Barnardo etc. Life in the UK was brutal beforehand - it wasn't all just tea in the park and Jane Austen novellas.

I've been to Sri Lanka, a very good friend of mine is Sri Lankan and he's taken me there. It's a beautiful country. I haven't been to mainland India - and yes I do know they are different countries but I know there's cultural cross over via Tamil and Sinhala. I'm hoping to take a play out to India soon, I've been working with an Indian director on some of her scripts and she's liaising with theatres out in Delhi. I want to go, but I am unsure how I will find it. I am now very easily triggered by the suffering of children - and that has made me somewhat hesitant.

I think we can both agree each other are intelligent, let's not stoop to the lowest common denominator of throwing 'you're just stupid' insults.
