I would broadly agree with this, if it were a thought through process where the adherents undertake due dilligence. The difference between boycotting and cancel culture is the speed at which information can be disseminated, digested, processed and acted upon.

Whilst boycotting requires community effort and face to face discussion, and perhaps some element of community hardship (such as boycotting the busses that you've mentioned) - the same is not true of cancel culture - which plays heavily into the Dunning-Kruger effect and confirmation bias.

This is an interesting article and I think we can agree that boycotting and cancel culture are cut from the same cloth.... but the difference between exercsing and exercising on steroids is pertinent... when on steroids you become utterly unpredictable, out of control, massively self aggrandizing and a danger to yourself and others.
