I would like to think that high quality writers are the future of Medium. It shouldn’t matter what genitals they have. I hope that in the fullness of the time women writers represent about 51% of the successful writers on here, in the way that they represent about 51% of the world’s population.

If the algorithm/curation is skewed in favour of one sex or the other then Medium should address this fairly promptly. Writing on Medium needs to be about writing talent and nothing else. That is why Shannon Ashley is one of my favourite writers here. Michael K. Spencer understands the importance of being an anti-influencer, pushing for the meritocracy and it’s a welcome voice to have in the mix

There’s space for everyone on this platform but Medium needs to make sure it remains objective or you’ll see a rapid flow away from the site—something that would be both sad for writers and reduce the diversity of opinions. Without intelligent writing from all political persuasions, all sexes and ages, Medium is in danger of becoming as homogenous and vacuous as other social media platforms.
