I would suggest avoiding comics you don’t find funny. If there’s subject matter you find distasteful then that’s a personal boundary for you. That doesn’t mean the subject should be banned from being joked about. That’s really the argument society is having at the moment…. What is acceptable or not acceptable to say. Attempting to decontextualise jokes into hate speech is how it’s being done.

There is a difference between a racist joke and a racist joking. The first is a subversion of a linguistic or psychological expectation, the latter is someone being a twat. Whether you find a joke funny or not is irrelevant to the construction of the joke and is a matter of personal taste… what is happening is people go out of their way to be offended by watching comedians they know they won’t find funny and then kick off about it. Your method is a much better approach, just switch it off. :o)
