I wrote about this issue from a centre ground perspective and came to many (but not all) of the same conclusions. This was a moral panic created out of not very much, the risk assessments were in place - but the Scottish Parliament may have over-reached in relation to U.K. law, particularly when we have such a mess across the debate. Most people on either side don’t think the debate is a mess, but those of us caught in the middle absolutely do.

Moral panic aside, there’s an issue that comes with working with those women who have experienced trauma. They need to be exposed to men who have been very carefully vetted, who have enhanced DBS disclosures and who will role model that there are men who are not threatening and men can be both safe and offer security. For many traumatised women this is not their experience and it’s an important part of psychological recovery. Isla Bryson doesn’t fit into that category, she is an unsafe woman with some male characteristics that could cause distress.
