If she is suffering from a medical condition that prevents her from doing some aspect of her job (the press) - there is no obligation for her employers to adjust their employment criteria around her. To do so, would set up an unfair system - this is particularly true in a game like tennis which relies on mindset.

In a sport which relies on sponsorship and television rights to fund it's exorbitant wages - then press is an integral part of maintaining the system. Same as with actors promoting their films. It's in the contract and part of the role. It's not about her needing to toughen up, it's about her inability to do one aspect of the job because of her mental health.

Many people have been there, myself included - the answer is always to take some time off and to seek professional help. This appears to be what she has done. The answer is not to try and meddle with the system because of the subjective experience of one person.
