If you were in the UK, you'd be a Liberal Democrat. That's the benefit of the third party system. They lean socially to the left on most issues, but they aren't about big-state interference like the Labour Party, preferring things to be resolved at the local level by local councils free from state interference.

They're slightly economically to the right of where I prefer to be - they went into coalition with the Tories in 2010, which I absolutely wouldn't have done but they didn't have much choice. Although I'd vote Harris if I was in the US, I don't have an objection to things being sorted at the local level.

Where I do like Federal involvement though, is not in matters of social policy - but matters of economic policy. I think money should be flowing out of the Coastal Towns and into the Rust Belt for regenreation. This was in essence what the EU was doing with British, French and German money in poorer places around Europe.

I suspect we're aligned on many social issues (aside from gun control) and divided on economic policy - but that's all to the good. People can still read and see the different shades of Lilac and Indigo we are. :o)
