I'm also a lefty, but I'd consider myself a lefty-liberal. There is nothing liberal about where the progressive movement is heading and there was never anything liberal about where the alt-right were going either. Liberals and moderates need to remain in the centre ground - where dialogue and polite discussion can still be begun and maintained.
