I'm back.... and, I would suggest, probably the calmest person in any argument. It's my laissez-faire approach to emotional engagement. As I've said in my comment to you Joek, I have read what you said about my deleting the Liam Neeson reference and I have apologised. This wasn't an act of bad faith, it was about editing a story, it wasn't done to try and catch you out. Within the context of my words, your aside makes much more sense.
I'm attracted, if you can call it that, to the interesting premise that women might hate men and vice versa. I'm interested in what that means for society... that's not a personal attraction, it's a philosophical interest. SC is a very capable and skilled writer and so I invited her to both expand upon and defend her words. I'm interested in quantifying and discussing this hate.
And you've misunderstood the discussion. We aren't discussing misandry, we're discussing hate. We're discussing the emotional labour undertaken by both sexes to keep open a valid communication model whilst in the crucible of a liberal democracy. SC and I fundamentally disagree on a lot of things and we will continue to disagree on many things. Our ability to retain civil discourse isn't about agreeing or propping each other up. It's about the mutual respect two intelligent people have for their ability to handle differences of opinion... It's taken 4 years of good faith and numerous hours spent pulling each other's work apart to get to the truth of what we both think. And yes, in the first instance we could very easily have gone down the path you and she are treading right now.
She bites more than I do. Penguins don't have teeth.
