I’m British and I have zero interest in either of these people. I didn’t watch their wedding, I didn’t watch his grandmother’s funeral, I don’t watch documentaries about them and I refuse to engage. The entire concept of monarchy is a vestige of a bizarre experiment which should’ve ended around 100 years ago.

That said, despite my utter lack of interest, their lives continue to permeate into my own. A few salient facts at a time. I’m aware that I helped pay for child-proofing their residence - somewhere they lived for about twenty minutes, I’m aware that they have a lot to say about climate change and use a private jet, I’m aware since asking for privacy and to be allowed to get on with their lives in quiet peace they have done a tell all documentary, written a book and signed a Netflix deal. I’m now aware that he has killed 25 people. Everything I learn about them suggests they are narcissistic, hypocritical and unpleasant. I hope they tear down the monarchy in much the same way a poisonous snake might bite a bird of prey in flight.
