I'm fairly well acquainted with the history of British rule in Ireland - and I didn't assert that the Irish have not been seen as a lesser people. I'm asserting that this isn't the current feeling in the UK - and I'm also asserting the Northern Ireland question is one best resolved by the people of Northern Ireland via the current political mechanisms. I don't think that any Irish person coming to the UK today is likely to face any discrimination for being Irish. I could be wrong, but I live in a heavily Irish area of London, have Irish friends, an Irish landlord and work in a hospital with a large contingent of Irish staff. Perhaps 25 years ago, not now.

As for the rest of the interference question, I'm not going to defend the British Empire - I just don't like the general assertion made about neo-colonialism (as opposed to the pre-WWII actual colonialism) or the idea that the 'global south' is a hegemony of piss poor countries without autonomy who represent a perpetual victim status. It's too simplistic and naive a lens with which to view a complex world.
